Leaky Faucets and the Drip-Drop Symphony

Over time, worn-out washers, O-rings, or valve seats can turn your faucet into a metronome of misery. That persistent drip from your kitchen faucet isn’t just annoying; it’s flushing money down the drains!
Luckily, the fix is often quick. Turn off the water supply by tightening the valve under the sink before popping off the faucet handle to inspect the cartridge or valve. Replace any worn parts. If the leak persists or your patience wears thin, then call Mr. Rooter to have a local nearby plumber come out ASAP.

The Gurgling Slow Drains

If your sink drains slower than traffic I-26 during rush hour, then you can blame grease, coffee grounds, or that time you “accidentally” rinsed mashed potatoes down the disposal. But this isn’t the time to nab a suspect. Let’s fix it.
Start with a plunger and some elbow grease. For tougher clogs, drop some baking soda down those drains and chase it with equal parts vinegar. Let the science fizz before flushing with hot water. What you DON’T want to do is use harsh chemical cleaners. They can damage pipes and even threaten the environment. Opt for natural solutions or a professional drain cleaning with Mr. Rooter instead.

The Garbage Disposal Graveyard

If your garbage disposal sounds like it’s grinding rocks instead of eggshells, then maybe you overloaded it with corn husks from last night’s BBQ – or a fork “fell in” mysteriously. The kids are always innocent. In any case, let’s get to the fix.
First, turn off the disposal’s power! Again, TURN OFF THE POWER. Next, use tongs (NOT YOUR HANDS) to remove debris. Finally, reset the disposal by pressing the button on the unit before running cold water for 15-20 seconds.
Call a plumber if the disposal hums but doesn’t spin. This is a sign of a jammed motor. If the unit is leaking at the base, then it’s probably time for a replacement.
Pro Tip: Keep citrus peels or ice cubes handy. Toss them in monthly to freshen the impellers and bust buildup.

Low Water Pressure: A Faucet’s Whisper

Your faucet’s once-strong stream now trickles like a lazy creek in the Midlands. Try cleaning those pots with that – NOT. Mineral buildup in the aerator or a hidden leak could be the culprit.

Let’s get to the bottom of it.

Unscrew the aerator (the tip of the faucet) and soak it in vinegar for 5-15 minutes to dissolve sediment before reattaching it. Also check under the sink for kinked supply lines or leaks. Handle repairs ASAP. You can always contact Mr. Rooter Plumbing for emergency plumbing repair.
